Ok, ive been sick since Family Day. My throat muscles are sore, I occasionally get the coughing fits and my supply of mucus seems endless.
What else is new? Well, for starters, V is so congested shes having trouble breathing at night. So she deals with it by nursing often, which interrupts my sleep. Moreover, she only has 7 teeth at 17 months and Dr. Warshafsky is worried about it.
Z has been waking up again at night and early in the morning, yelling out for M. Then he cries because he can’t get me. Everyone is just tired. And to make matters worse, more snow came down last night – the wet kind. And it’s still steadily coming down.
I’m ready for spring, personally. Are you?
So far, this is my 3rd time being sick this winter. It also happens to be the worse one. Painful sore throat, persistent coughing, stuffy nose and abundant mucus are what I’ve bern dealing with for the last 9 days.
It started out with the kids being sick – although I have to say that they weren’t nearly as bad as I am. Thank goodness. This, I feel, is the worst I’ve felt and I’ve not been able to take time off either, which doesn’t help. I’m exhausted everyday. All I want to do is sleep. I’m hoping this will go away soon.
M has the sore throat and a slight cough. The kids seem clear of mucus but are still coughing. Just a bad flu season, all in all.
Ok, yeah, it may seem like I’ve been gone for a while. Yes, I was busy. With what, you may ask. A lot of things.
The last week or so the kids were sick. yesterday, it was my turn. Sore throat, congestion, runny nose, coughing, headaches. Yes, not fun.
We also started with a new nanny. This was her 1st day with V alone. And it was a little rough at first but the day turned out well, I guess. She had 2 naps of 1.5 hrs each. Hmmmm. I liked that.
Less than 2 weeks ago, I started a Math blog. So I’ve been working on that whenever I have a chance. You can even check on me. It’s http://www.mslee07m.wordpress.com.
That’s all.
Whenever people see Z and I together, they always say that he’s a mini version of me. I could totally see it, especially in this photo.
Ok, tonight is officially the 7th day of Z and V sleeping together in the same room. Here are our thoughts so far…
1. The bedtime routine part is easy. No problem at all. In fact, V fell asleep first even before Z got into the room. She only had one nap of an hour so she was exhausted.
2. The night Watkins for him have significantly reduced – to the point that they are non-existent. And her night wakings are not really affecting him so much. The only time her crying wakes him is if she cries long and loud.
3. The mornings are rough. For the past 4 days, V has been waking at early hours – before 5 am. I end up bringing her into our bed because I need to sleep. Then when Z wakes ( before 6am) and finds himself alone, he doesn’t want to go back to sleep anymore. That’s when the power struggle with M happens and he cries. I think if we can manage to keep her in the crib until wakeup time, they both might sleep a little longer.
We just need to tweak this system. I know this will eventually work. And it will sooner than later, I hope.
This week, V has been having short naps all around – am and pm. I think it may be time to drop her morning nap. It’s a tricky situation though, because sometimes she wakes up early.
Today, she was up at 4:30 am and I had to bring her into our room and I think she slept for an hour in our bed. Not sure. But if she did, then I guess she would’ve been ok to nap at 10am. Then we could gradually move her morning nap so it’s later and eventually closer to 12:30pm.
Having said that, 12:30 pm is also a perfect time for Z’s nap because that’s the same nap time at school. This would, of course, present a challenge because that means an earlier lunch with the kids and home by noon for them to be in bed and asleep by then.
Here is what the new schedule would look like:
6:30 wakeup
7:30 breakfast
9:30 snack
11-11:30 Lunch
12:30 – 2:30 nap
3:30 snack
5:30 dinner
One can only hope this would work for V. Otherwise it will be a very tiring day.
