Today we left the car at Yorkdale and took the transit downtown. It has been a while since we took the TTC. The trains were brand new. No more individual short cars. Now you can walk right through the entire train. The kids were so fascinated with the ride experience.

Our first stop was the ROM. For a Sat it was very quiet so it was nice to let the kids walk on their own without worrying about others around us. I’d say we had a nice time. Today’s focus was mainly the animals. Z liked the interactive screens as they remind him of the iPad. V just loved the freedom of walking around on her own. We stayed for about an hour before heading to Chinatown for lunch.

On the walk there, V fell asleep in the Ergo with M. Only, she slept for 20’minutes. Z got to walk on his own and have fun.

It was a great day out.

Today is one of those days I take when I need to take care of medical issues and Z. It’s Shavuot at Hillcrest today and do we spent all day together.

We started at Alltimate Indoor Playground and went to South Street Burger at Shops on Don Mills to have lunch. After we had ice cream and Z got so silly with the chocolate ice cream.

We rushed home for his nap so I could make it to my ultrasound and blood test. Then we are off to pick up Z and M.

It’s so hard to take pics of Z these days. It’s because the only time he is still is when he’s on a device. Here he is seen walking in a hoodie, sporting his new hair cut.

V wanted to put on some of Z’s clothes while I was folding laundry. At one pint she had one of his underwears through of other legs and another one through the other. Then she asked to put on his cars shirt. Then her hoodie. I love that face.

The second time around, a haircut doesn’t seem as scary anymore. Now, Z is like a pro. He’s so good when they are cutting his hair. He was done within 15 minutes. We got his hair cut to above his shoulder this time. He looks so cute.

Of course, V wanted to sit in the special chair, too. But she had very little hair to cut.

I just love it when the kids are hanging out. They’re sharing the same space but are each happy to do their own thing. V actually enjoys looking over Z’s shoulder once in a while to check out what he’s doing. (This usually happens when M and I have to both get ready.)

The Early Bird Catches The Worm

Both V and Z have never been the sleep-in kind of babies. I dot know why that is. All I know is that regardless of their bedtime, the wakeup time is still the same – before 7am. It gets as early as 4 am, or in the case of today, 1:30 am.

The last two mornings have been a succession of early wakings – 5 am, then 4 am. I’d go and bring her into our bed and nurse her, thinking that at least she will sleep for another 30 min or an hour. Not usually the case.

This time, we stayed up and listened to her cry for 35 minutes. Each 15 minute segment got more desperate. Finally, after entering the room, I heard her say “morning” a few times. I was shocked to hear this and I walked up to her crib and explained to her that it was too early to be waking up. And I pointed to the clock to show her it was only 2am.

I asked her what she would like and she replied, “boobie”. I proceeded to explain to her that I’d gladly nurse her but she has to go back to bed after and that she can’t cry because it wakes Z up and he doesn’t like it.

After nursing, I asked her to let me know when she was done – and she did. She pulled my shirt back down when she was finished. She started whimpering as I proceeded to walk toward her crib. I had to offer to sing her a song before I put her down and she took it.

After I left her she still got up and cried for another 15 minutes. This time I went back to her with M but that only made her even more upset to see him. When she wants mommy, she DOES NOT want to see ANYBODY at all!!! So I talked to her again as she understands everything I say to her. I nursed her and then put her back in the crib.

She protested again but this time, she stayed lying down, hugging her bears under the blanket. I’m hoping this is the end of this because I’m exhausted.

Its now 3am One and a half hours of wakefulness. I’m hoping to sleep for at least 3 hours then I’ll be ok.

3:20. Or maybe not. Not only has she decided to not sleep, but she also decided to take off her sleeper and rip off her diaper. So she definitely knows what to do to get someone to come in.

Now she’s just screaming and crying frantically as M tries to settle her down. I can’t take this. It’s too much. She’s been up for 2 hrs now. Not good.

Day of Daycare

Another successful day at Mothers Choice Daycare. Never before has something like this happened to either one of our kids – V fell asleep at the lunch table. It’s so cute. She must’ve been so exhausted though because she woke up at 4am this morning. I tried to nurse her back to sleep in our bed but truth be told, I don’t really know how long she slept for. She was up at 5:30am. Z also woke up at 4am when he heard V crying and M had to sleep on the couch in his room for him to fall back asleep.

Needless to say, we each got about 4-5 hrs of sleep only. Hoping this weekend goes better.

V loves being silly – and why not? She’s got the best teacher – her big brother.

Z was so serious about just chillaxing after school. He just wanted some quiet time with his iPod games. I love it when his hair is pulled back. You could just see his beautiful face.

Daycare for Violet

Today was the first day V went to a home daycare. Our situation for child care changed suddenly and I had tofu d alternate care for our little girl.

M walked V to the day care and I drove to school with Z. She had a little but of a shock at first but soon adjusted by lunch. She even napped within 5 minutes and and slept for almost 2 hours.

I’m glad things worked out for Violet. Thank goodness.

Rough patches

V is having a rough night tonight. I’m surprised because she went to sleep quite uneventfully. She first cried out around 11:10pm and went back to sleep within 5 minutes.

She’s cried out 3 more times since and each time, she progressively got more desperate so I finally went in around 12:15 am. I nursed her and talked her down until she was almost quiet. I just didn’t want her screaming again.

I can’t sleep until she falls asleep because I feel like she’s going to start crying again. I’m not sure why she is awake. The nanny said she had 2 hrs of sleep do she should technically be having a good night’s sleep.

I just hope that she doesn’t stay up any longer or she will have to have 2 naps tomorrow.
